Barry Weiss named BMG chairman

NEW YORK -- Barry Weiss is now the top man on the BMG side of the
Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

The industry veteran was named chairman and CEO of the BMG Label
Group on Thursday, replacing Clive Davis, who becomes chief
creative officer for Sony BMG Worldwide. Weiss and Davis will
report to Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, CEO of Sony BMG Music
Entertainment.

In the wake of Weiss' appointment, BMG Label Group president and
COO Charles Goldstruck is leaving the company, as will Sony BMG
chief operating officer Tim Bowen.

To fill the void created by Bowen's departure, Richard Sanders,
president of global marketing, also will assume responsibilities

offices worldwide.

Weiss now oversees all of the BMG labels, which include RCA

And though Sophocles was again criticised by Sir Alan Sugar on the BBC1 reality show, it was Dhada who got the boot, with the Amstrad boss accusing her of "alienating" brides to be with her sales tactics.

"If I had been one of those recipients of your sales pitch I would've got your head and pushed it in the bloody cake," he told her.

"You go off like a machine gun. You have a tendency of transmitting and not receiving. You talk, talk, talk but don't listen," he added.

Dhada, from Leicester, said her experience on the fourth series of the show had taught her that she needs "to defend herself".

"I need to say 'you can't speak to me like that'," she continued.

"I didn't defend myself properly. I was so tired. I was thinking just let Sir Alan say what he's got to say, get it over and done with."

Singer Lily Allen has slated the paparazzi, alleging that a photographer smashed one of the windows of her car.
The 22-year-old star posted a blog on her MySpace page complaining about the alleged attack on her BMW car.
Allen wrote: "If you see photos in the press or online of my car window being 'smashed by vandals', I just want you to know that it was one of the many paparazzi who were following us who did it.
"There were so many of them hassling us that it is difficult to say which one of them did it but I had to leap in a taxi to get away from them."
Allen continued: "My friend Emily had to get into the car which was covered in broken glass and drive it away."
"It was a scary situation and I want people to know that it was totally their fault and that the whole situation has angered and upset me.
"Emily got cut from sitting on the broken glass and we are both horrified that people could behave in this way and get away with it."
